Over the past decade, consumer content preferences have changed considerably in favour of video over text. A phenomenon which Facebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has coined a "mega trend".  

He continues, “we’re going to be in world a few years from now where the vast majority of content that people consume online will be video".

  • Video marketing is taking over the internet
    By 2019 video will account for 90% of internet traffic (Syndcast).
     

  • Video matches demographic demand
    Facebook’s algorithm now favours video; Twitter has lengthened their video duration to 140 seconds; Instagram now recommends video first and Pinterest has introduced promoted videos.
     

  • Video improves SEO
    You’re 53% more likely to show up on page one of Google when you display video on your website (Mist Media).
     

  • Video is simply more interesting than reading
    4x as many consumers prefer watching videos than reading plain text (Animoto). 



THE IMPACT OF VIDEO IN PROPERTY MARKETING

Agents are beginning to use video to list and market properties. However, the full potential of video hasn't yet been realised. 

This represents a huge opportunity for agents to stand out and offer more value by adopting a 'video first' approach to property marketing. 

Agents who stand out from competitors, with professional marketing tools like video, are more likely to capture the attention of sellers and landlords, impress at valuations and so win more listings.  

This is backed up by the findings of the recent Home Moving Trends Survey - which more than 25,500 agents' customers contributed answers. 

In the survey, an agent's marketing ability scored highest among vendors, with 86% saying this was a key reason for them choosing their agent.

Video, if used throughout your marketing mix, has the potential to deliver a host of benefits to you and your customers.

Here's some examples of how you could deliver 'video first' in your marketing strategy:
 

  • Email & text video to notify applicants of new properties to market (these are your next customers)
     

  • Email & text video as part of your pre-MA communication to impress prospective vendors and landlords before the appointment
     

  • Position video prominently on your website on search results and property details pages
     

  • Share on social media to maximise brand awareness 
     

Using video in your marketing strategy will improve SEO, increase traffic to your website and dwell times as well as increase brand awareness and property exposure.
